‘Casa Verde’ home in Englewood NJ hits market for $13.88 million

Seemingly plucked out of the foothills of Los Angeles is the one-of-a-kind mansion at 388 Morrow Road in Englewood. A rare architectural find in our region, this luxurious contemporary home — known as Casa Verde — brings function and style to North Jersey.
Listed for $13.88 million by agent Taylor Lucyk, of The Taylor Lucyk Group at Christie’s International Real Estate, this impressive residence boasts more than 16,000 square feet of living space in a quiet and understated multimillion community that has been home to iconic figures like Alicia Keys.
The property was designed by renowned developer Anthony Fonti, who built the home from the ground up after buying the vacant lot in 2021. He said his goal was to create something that isn’t so “cookie cutter” and steers away from what people typically see on the East Coast.
“I would look at things on House.com or I’d look at big mansions in Los Angeles that were $40 or $50 million, and I’d get an idea that night and come in the next day to implement it,” he said. “There’s a guy in Los Angeles, his name is Rampton Ray Nosrati. He builds all of these large homes, and I’ve always admired what he’s been doing in Los Angeles for a lot of years now. I follow him on Instagram, and I got a lot of inspiration from him.”
As you pull into the driveway of this six-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion, you’re greeted with a sleek exterior of earthy cement masonry and timeless limestone tile. And as you step into one of the home’s two front doors, you’ll take in details like the herringbone wood floors, designer light fixtures and the abundance of natural light coming from the home’s wall-to-wall windows.
As for amenities, you’ll find a two-story live green wall, a custom designer kitchen by Paramus-based Kuche + Cucina with state-of-the-art Gaggenau appliances, a four-season loggia room with a fireplace and a Zen garden.
There’s also a basement with a wine cellar, a home gym, a movie theater and spacious recreation areas, as well as landscaped grounds with an infinity pool, an outdoor kitchen and several patio and terrace spaces. Three garage bays — two of which are equipped with lifts to store an additional two cars — and a full smart home system round out the property’s amenities.
“The size of this home is obviously massive, and I had never done something this large before. So I kind of just winged it,” Fonti said. “I honestly just picked the best of everything, in my opinion. I didn’t skimp on anything. I just kept adding and adding. I wish I could tell you there was months of planning beforehand, but that wasn’t really the case.”
Fonti said he chose to build this unique style of home in Englewood because it was originally supposed to be for him, and he had always dreamed of living in the city. He said most developers and builders, like himself, tend to want to create homes that are completely different from what’s already available, and this home was his way of doing that.
When he ultimately decided to sell the home — saying it’s too big for just him — he said he believes the location and ultra-modern design will help it stand out from other luxury properties for sale in the area.
“I think what sets it apart is when you look at the eight-figure market, you’re generally buying these stately, older houses on large parcels that are maybe on considerably some of the best blocks in New Jersey. But you’re definitely not getting this type of quality as far as the new development’s concerned,” Lucyk said. “They have more of that chateau feel or that gables feel, because that’s what’s been done historically. And this product is actually irreplaceable, and I think that’s what speaks the most to consumers as they walk through it. Another one doesn’t really exist anywhere else in northern New Jersey.”
