The area’s antique and collectible stores offer items like repurposed furniture, antique glassware, collectibles and other one-of-a-kind items. Many are also starting to launch their inventory and special deals ahead of the fast-approaching holiday season, for those looking to buy unique gifts this year.
TES Finds
St. Cloud antique shop TES Finds has a focus on unique and rare collectible items and sells a range of items like glassware, art, figurines, pottery and garden decor. Owner Tatyana Simelgor, originally from Ukraine, also features a section of Ukrainian items, as well as Native American, Asian and African goods. She said she loves helping customers find their style and hearing from them about how they place a piece in their home.
“I don’t just find stuff to my taste, I find stuff that would fit different types of people, different types of decor… kind of a little bit of everything,” she said.
TES Finds is open noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and by appointment for private shopping sessions at 3900 Roosevelt Road.
The Rusty Pick
The Rusty Pick in Waite Park sells vintage and antique finds across many categories, such as vintage typewriters, holiday decorations, old neon signs and antique glassware. The shop first opened in downtown St. Cloud in 2015 before moving to its current location in 2017. It focuses on selling timeless and unique pieces.
The Rusty Pick is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 311 28th Ave. S. in Waite Park.
Little Sister’s Antiques
Cold Spring’s Little Sister’s Antiques offers a mix of old and new, with antiques curated by owner Lisa Hansen and other local vendors with rooms throughout the store. Visitors to the shop can find refurbished antique furniture, seasonal decor and T-shirts, as well as Hansen’s handmade jewelry and fabric gnomes.
“My favorite part is the people,” she said. “I love all the people that I’ve met and learning more about others and connection.”
As the holiday season approaches, Little Sister’s Antiques will soon add Christmas items to the store and will host holiday sales and events, especially around Small Business Saturday. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, as well as Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The shop is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is located at 216 Main St. in Cold Spring.
Modern Barnyard
The distinctive red building along County Road 75 houses Modern Barnyard, a local shop that offers rustic repurposed vintage items, home decor and seasonal holiday items.
Modern Barnyard is known for its unique vintage and antique pieces, as well as its expansive Christmas selection, which the store is beginning to roll out ahead of the holidays. In March, Modern Barnyard owners Jim Beck and John Malikowski also won the Chamber’s Entrepreneurial Success Award.
Modern Barnyard is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at 7285 County Road 75 in St. Cloud.
O’Brien’s Dry Goods
Downtown St. Cloud’s newest antique shop O’Brien’s Dry Goods sells a mix of antiques, records, collectibles and vintage clothing curated by owner Chad O’Brien and other antique vendors. O’Brien is also currently preparing to open his next store, Metz & Co, expected late this year. It will sell an expanded variety of antiques across its two floors, featuring collections from local vendors.
“I really want it to be a destination; I really want people to be excited to come downtown,” he said. “We need different places for people to go, and we can fill (that) role.”
O’Brien’s Dry Goods is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at 611 W. St. Germain St.
Salvage Sisters
Salvage Sisters, which has locations in Waite Park and Brainerd, offers a vast space for antique lovers to explore, with over 14,000 square feet of old and new items from local small business owners. The shop sells art, clothing, collectibles and antique decorations.
The Waite Park location features its Outdoor Living Area, with lawn furniture, planters and Amish-built sheds. The store also hosts events like an upcoming intro to junk journaling and holiday tree craft sessions. It will be hosting several holiday events leading up to Christmas.
Salvage Sisters is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 115 28th Ave. S. in Waite Park.
Sage & Salvage
Though it is not a typical antique store, fans of refurbished vintage furniture can find many unique items at Sage & Salvage, a new pop-up shop in St. Cloud’s East End neighborhood. The store sells refinished furniture like mirrors, tables and sets of drawers, as well as soaps, jewelry and art from local vendors.
Owner Marla Waseka also stocks the store with some of her own items she has collected while restoring historic homes with Sauk Rapids’ Moxie Ladies, her other business venture.
Sage & Salvage is open as a pop-up store one weekend a month, with its next opening scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 28 and 29. It is located at 413 E. St. Germain St.
Antiques Downtown in Elk River
Antiques Downtown is located in downtown Elk Rapids at 309 Jackson Ave. NW. The antique shop has three floors and is neatly organized, so it’s easy to see all the items on display.
Home decor is scattered throughout the store, with no shortage of picture frames and wall art for sale. Mugs and kitchen supplies were also plentiful. Old movies and children’s items were also scattered throughout, specifically on the top level. The shop is also preparing to launch its wide selection of Christmas items in November.
The store is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
