Jake Arnold’s New Crate & Barrel Collab Has the Cutest Kid’s Furniture and Decor

Celebrity interior designer Jake Arnold’s second Crate and Barrel collaboration is one that’s uniquely personal. He was inspired to create a furniture and decor collection to capture “the joy of outdoor living,” but he didn’t want to stop there. “When I think about the current offerings for kids and baby furniture on the market right now, the options are extremely limiting,” Arnold says. “I wanted to bring a whimsy and playful sensibility while keeping it elegant enough to become transitional pieces for when they grow out of their playrooms and nurseries.” As a nod to these feelings, he created over 145 new Crate & Barrel pieces that touch on the themes, which you can shop online or in stores today.

Arnold’s background was a major influence on his outdoor furniture collection. He combined his British heritage and current West Coast life, with his London and L.A. styles colliding. The bistro set of tables and chairs looks plucked from an English garden. Meanwhile, the nine-foot wicker umbrella-side table combo would be right at home in a Southern California resort.

“For the outdoor collection, I was excited to challenge myself by mixing the beautiful feel of the English gardens I grew up with and the timeless charm of Old Hollywood glamour, which is such a big part of Los Angeles, my second home,” Arnold says. “It’s a blend of two worlds that are close to my heart!”

Arnold’s outdoor collection with Crate & Barrel includes everything from elegant poolside lounge chairs to al fresco dining sets. Much of it is focused on entertaining, but it is also crafted from all-weather materials like teak to help it stand the test of time.

Meanwhile, Arnold’s baby and kid’s collection is full of playful pieces, but they’re more thoughtful than cheesy. “I’ve always felt a calm and warm vibe from the ocean, which is perfect for a kids’ collection,” Arnold says. “Creating a seaside-themed collection for little ones can be tricky because it’s easy to end up with something that feels too on the nose.” The pieces are as functional as they are whimsical, from a clamshell-shaped table lamp to a nautical striped storage bed.
