Inside Kim Kardashian’s Enviable Real Estate Portfolio
Love her or hate her, no one can really deny that Kim Kardashian is, at least in part, entertaining. Whether it’s because of her dislike of coffee sleeves or her problematic love of design dupes that gets her at the top of your newsfeed, one must admit the way she stays in the public eye is not at all unsuccessful. And this seemingly boundless fame makes her real estate portfolio as intriguing to go through as it is ever expanding.
Since the early aughts, before she was plastered up on your television screens in Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Miss Kimmy started her journey in the real estate market in her hometown of Los Angeles in the bustling neighborhood of Beverly Grove. While the reality star-businesswoman-momtrepreneur hasn’t expanded much outside of L.A. since her first home purchase, that doesn’t mean her choice in mansions aren’t varied. Below, browse details on every home Kardashian has owned over nearly two decades, and learn where her current ultra-contemporary interior style first started to form.
2005: Kardashian Buys a Beverly Grove Condo
Kardashian’s first step into the world of real estate was with a condo in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of L.A. that she purchased even before her KUWTK fame. The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom condo was built in 2004, and while it’s unclear how much exactly Kardashian bought it for in 2005, she eventually sold it in 2010 for a cool $885,000. Taking up 1,720 square feet, this first home was just the start of Kardashian’s apparent love for extremely large spaces. Since the photos currently on Redfin don’t show anything that special about the property, we can assume that Kardashian was still finding her footing when it came to her personal interior style.
2010: Kardashian Purchases a Furnished Estate in Beverly Hills
As KUWTK continued to gain popularity and Kardashian began her infamous relationship with basketball player Kris Humphries, the reality star bought her second home in Beverly Hills for $3.5 million. This estate came fully furnished and was both designed and decorated by Lucien Lacasse in a classic Tuscan style. Multiple rooms in the 4,000-square-foot house had fireplaces, as well as the outdoor area which also boasted a kitchen, living room, dining room, pool, spa, and even an outdoor massage room. The home came with five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, but Kardashian reportedly converted one of the bedrooms into a giant walk-in closet. We can’t blame her!
This was the home Kardashian was living in when Humphries proposed to her, when they got married, and when they filed for divorce only 72 days later. To keep you up to speed: Kardashian started dating Kanye West in 2012, and her separation with Humphries was legally finalized in 2013. That same year, Kardashian sold the estate for an undisclosed amount.
2013: Kardashian Invests in a Gated Bel Air Home with West
At this point, Kardashian and West had been dating for about a year and were expecting their first child, so it’s not surprising when they purchase a Bel Air estate for $9 million and West puts his Hollywood Hills home on the market for $3.3 million. Another Tuscan-inspired residence, the 9,000-square-foot Bel Air home sits on three-quarters of an acre and features an 800-square-foot outdoor pavilion with a swimming pool. Black walnut parquet floors, beams, and cathedral ceilings make up the grand interior. Some of the many amenities include a bar, a wine cellar, an elevator, and four fireplaces throughout the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home.
The couple sold their first home together in 2017 for a whopping $17.8 million. After it was announced, a closer look on how Kardashian and West styled the property came out. It was reportedly very white, modern, and minimalist when they left—almost like a museum—with giant floor-to-ceiling windows. That’s very similar to Kardashian’s current interior style.
2014: Kardashian and West Buy a Hidden Hills Home
In 2014, the couple purchased what will turn out to be one of their most well-known residences: a $20 million Hidden Hills home. The estate took inspiration from the French countryside with wooden gates, stone-clad siding, and a rolling three acres of land with vineyards, fountains, and plenty of mature trees. The eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom home spans 15,667 square feet and includes a home theater, a game room, a gym, a library, and eight fireplaces—perfect for those classic Kardashian-Jenner get-togethers. The couple worked with Belgian architect Axel Vervoordt to create the ultimate white and minimalist interior that we see in Kardashian’s social media posts today.
If you thought that was big enough for the pair’s at-the-time growing family, think again: Later that year, Kardashian and West paid $2.925 million for a neighboring 1.49-acre property to expand their Hidden Hills compound. Combining the two properties leaves this initial estate at about four-and-a-half acres total.
This is the home Kardashian primarily lives in now with her and West’s four children. When the couple decided to split a few years after buying the home, Kardashian bought her ex husband out of the estate in 2021. She paid him $20 million for the structure itself and an extra $3 million for the contents inside.
2017: Kardashian Quietly Buys a Condo in Calabasas
Kar-Jenner matriarch, Kris Jenner, and Kardashian expanded their real estate portfolios together when they quietly bought condominiums at the Avanti, a highly sought-after luxury complex in Calabasas. Kardashian reportedly paid $1.6 million for her unit. While their wasn’t too much known about the interior, the condos were designed by Robert Hidey Architects in an Italian style with Kohler fixtures and Wolf appliances. Each unit came with a private deck and balconies, and there are shared amenities within the building, like a swimming pool, a spa, and a sun deck.
Kardashian primarily used this condo as an office space for her SKIMS and KKW Beauty brands, though it still featured the minimalist, almost Brutalist style West and her loved so much. In fact, West’s birthday present to his then-wife was bringing in architect Vincent Van Duysen to redesign the entire space before she settled in.
Just two years after purchasing the condo, Kardashian and West listed the three-bedroom, four-bathroom home for $3.5 million to no avail, with Kardashian listing it once again in 2022 for the same price. Still unable to offload this property, Kardashian lowered the price to $2.7 million in 2023, but it seems the star has yet to find a buyer.
2019: Kardashian and West Expand Their Hidden Hills Compound
The celebrity couple had big dreams for their Hidden Hills compound in 2019, purchasing two more neighboring properties from their original one which they bought in 2014. The first of which was a 1950s home on a 1.57-acre lot that Kardashian and West paid $2.7 million for in a private sale, bringing their total acreage to just over a sprawling six. This home had 2,750 square feet of living space and was relatively modest with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The second Hidden Hills home the pair bought was for just under $3 million, and it was a ranch on one-and-a-half acres with a pool, a covered patio, and horse facilities. Just three years later and after Kardashian and West started their legal separation, the matriarch put this estate on the market for $5.3 million. It sold in 2023 for $3.5 million.
2022: Kardashian Makes a Quick Flip in Hidden Hills
In early-to-mid 2022, Kardashian bought a 1970s split-level home near her primary Hidden Hills residence for $6.3 million. The home sits on about an acre of land that boasts numerous equestrian trails and is made up of 4,239 square feet of living space with four bedrooms and five bathrooms. However, it turns out she didn’t want the property for long as she put it back on the market just six months later for $7 million. It doesn’t appear the property has yet sold.
Kardashian also revealed in 2022 that she was working on her “dream home” in Palm Springs with design direction from Japanese architect Tadao Ando. While there hasn’t been much said about this project since, the mansion will reportedly have a space age look to it and have panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
2022: Kardashian Purchases Cindy Crawford’s Former Malibu Home
Just before listing the last property, Kardashian decided to purchase a Malibu beach house once owned by Cindy Crawford for a cool $70.4 million. That’s the most she has spent on a single property yet. With neighbors like Lady Gaga, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cher, plus stunning views of the ocean, we imagine it was well worth it to the billionaire.
The two-story, Mediterranean-style villa stands on about three acres of land and encompasses 7,450 square feet of pure luxury. The floor plan is bright and airy—two features you want in a beach house—and Kardashian brought in Harrison Design to transform the dated aspects of the mansion into something cohesive that matches the rest of her portfolio. The outside of the home is just as stunning as the interior with a private pathway down to the white sand beach, a private cabana and spa, and a gorgeous swimming pool.
