Inside Her Budding Real Estate Portfolio

Alex Cooper knows designing a home is hard work. The Call Her Daddy host discussed furnishing her first solo New York City apartment and the California ranch she shares with her husband, Matt Kaplan, on a recent episode of her podcast, featuring Euphoria star Hunter Schafer. That left us eager for a deep dive into Cooper’s home history. With an estimated net worth of $30 million, the Pennsylvania native’s property portfolio seems to be just getting started. Ahead, browse details on her first apartment and her current pad.

2020: Cooper Moves Into Her First Solo NYC Apartment

Following Cooper’s friendship (and roommate) breakup with her former Call Her Daddy cohost Sofia Franklyn, she moved into her first solo New York City apartment. Cooper vlogged the process, giving an in-depth video tour of her new place. Located in Manhattan, the duplex apartment featured an exposed brick wall, curved windows, a floating staircase, and an in-unit washer and dryer (every NYC resident’s dream). She outfitted the place with items from RH, CB2, and Anthropologie.

When Cooper reflected on furnishing the place with Schafer on Call Her Daddy, Cooper said she thought it was going to be easier than it actually was. Schafer, who purchased her first home nearly a year ago, also went through the same spiral. They each tried to make their homes look nice themselves before eventually hiring interior designers.

Cooper bought the popular Cloud Couch from RH, which she said sat in her apartment for so long and didn’t instantly look good with everything else. She explained on her podcast: “And I’m like, ‘How do you make a space look good?’ And I see Pinterest, and I see like even Urban Outfitters. It looks so cute. And then I buy it, and it looks like f*cking shit. So then I hired someone, and now I hired my husband to do it.”

2022: Cooper Buys a $10.7 Million California Ranch

By 2022, Cooper secured a Studio City, California, compound for a cool $10.7 million. On the property, there are two houses on two separate parcels. The larger property is gated and covers roughly 5,300 square feet, while the smaller guesthouse is about 1,600 square feet. The main three-bedroom residence, a Colonial Revival ranch, was originally built in the late 1930s. Outside, there’s an oval swimming pool, outdoor fireplace, courtyard, vegetable garden, and chicken coop.

Cooper currently resides at his home with her now-husband who she left all of the design decisions up to because he has “perfect taste,” she said in an episode of Call Her Daddy. While that may be the case, the couple did hire Lindsay Balton of Balton Design to lead the way. When they first moved in, the interiors were marked by “faux brick, vinyl tufting, and other synthetic materials” after a history of renovations, according to Architectural Digest. Their renovation transformed the home into the comfortable yet refined look they were after. “When you walk into our home, you will not feel out of place in sweats,” Cooper told the publication. “If anything, you’ll blend in because there are so many blankets and cozy textures.”

With a calming, neutral color palette, the home mimics a wellness retreat that seamlessly blends with the lush surroundings. Earthy materials—including limestone, aged oak, and patinaed metals—evoke a serene atmosphere. From the spacious kitchen with light wood beams to the blush pink walk-in closet, it’s certainly a sweet escape in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
