Furniture retailer closing one Lehigh Valley store, opening another soon | Eat, Sip, Shop

As one furniture store prepares to end operations, another is readying for its debut about six miles away in the Lehigh Valley.

A Decor Home Furniture & Mattresses store, offering furniture for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and offices, is set to close on Feb. 28 at 2180 MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township.

The store opened about five years ago in the Whitehall Square shopping center.

Another Decor Home Furniture & Mattresses is coming soon to a former Rite Aid location at 2178 W. Union Blvd. in Bethlehem.

The new Bethlehem store, located in the Lehigh Shopping Center, has a tentative opening date of March 1, according to a manager at Decor Home’s Palmer Park Mall location, which is continuing to operate as normal.

Decor Home carries a wide assortment of furniture, including sofas, loveseats, sectionals, end tables, dining room sets, bedroom sets, entertainment centers and desks, along with mattresses and decor such as area rugs, lamps and pillows.

The business also has another Lehigh Valley location – a nearly three-year-old store at the former Bon-Ton site at the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township – along with two New York stores in Rockland and Westchester counties.

At the Whitehall location, a “massive closing sale,” with items discounted up to 80% off their original prices, is underway.

“We have some bad news and some good news,” a message on the Whitehall store’s Facebook page reads.

“The bad news is we lost our lease in Whitehall and have to close that location forever. The good news is we have over 60,000 sq ft of furniture that must go so that means YOU can get an amazing deal right now!!! We have a limited amount of time left so run don’t walk to our Whitehall location only!”

The store closing sale will continue through the end of February, and all sales are final.

The Whitehall store is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

“We have been a part of the Allentown/Whitehall community for the last several years so it is with heavy hearts that we share with you that our lease is up and we have to close our doors very soon,” an announcement on the business’ page reads.

“This applies only to our Whitehall location. Our Easton location will continue to be up and running and once we close our Whitehall store we will love to continue to serve you there. We have massive discounts going on now in our Whitehall location and we welcome you to come refresh your home in 2025 while saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars!”

It’s unclear what business will be taking over the space that Decor Home Furniture is vacating at Whitehall Square.

“At this time, we are unable to share tenant names, but look forward to letting you know once lease agreements have been officially finalized,” said Maria Pace, a spokesperson for Brixmor Property Group, which owns and operates Whitehall Square.
