Artemest Designs $13.5M NYC Penthouse
MILAN — Italian design platform Artemest has taken a dive into the luxury real estate world and unveiled its first model residence concept on the 85th floor of The Greenwich in New York City.
The Greenwich is an 88-story tower in the Financial District and was designed by late architect Rafael Viñoly, who is known for his work on the Tokyo International Forum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Carrasco Airport in Montevideo, Uruguay, and 20 Fenchurch Street in London.
For the project unveiled Wednesday, Artemest collaborated with March and White Design (MAWD), the award-winning interior design firm with studios in London, New York, Los Angeles and Dubai. MAWD turned the penthouse into a living gallery of Italian art, furniture, lighting and decor.
The penthouse’s interiors drew inspiration from the tower’s curved architectural form and views of the Hudson River, Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center, and the New York City skyline. The team used Murano glass and monolithic sculptures for the bedroom, and a floating brass chandelier in the dining area for a touch of levity. In the living room, a sinuous sculptural sofa featured on Artemest frames the floor-to-ceiling vistas of the vast communal space. Complementary pieces such as a glossy bird’s-eye maple sideboard and a Canaletto wood bookcase enhanced the modern space, infusing a dose of contemporary Italian design style into downtown Manhattan.
“The Greenwich by Rafael Viñoly is an ode to Italian design heritage with elements like layered marbles and Roman columns bringing enduring elegance to Downtown New York. Collaborating with Artemest felt natural, allowing us to seamlessly integrate our vision with the finest Italian craftsmanship,” MAWD cofounder Elliot March said.
The product selection for The Greenwich space includes furniture, lighting and decorative objects from more than 55 different Italian artisans, spanning 10 regions across Italy, shaping a truly unique and inspiring home.
“We continue to establish ourselves as a key collaborator with our unique ability and turnkey process to bring art and craft into luxury real estate,’” said Marco Credendino, Artemest’s chief executive officer.
Credendino and jewelry designer Ippolita Rostagno, the firm’s creative director, founded Artemest in 2015. Today it has grown to an online destination with more than 60,000 products by 1,500 artisans that represent the past, present and future of Italian craftsmanship and creativity.
The penthouse is currently listed for $13.5 million with Douglas Elliman Development Marketing exclusively handling sales and marketing for the building.
