7 Spots Design Lovers Should Visit In The Hamptons That Aren’t Furniture Stores

If there’s one thing you can safely say every Hamptons resident has in common, it is high standards. From the perfectly hedged property lines on Lilly Pond Lane to main streets without so much as a coffee cup on the ground, there’s nothing quite like it. It’s also the perfect place for those who appreciate design to visit and truly feel wowed by the sites and experiences. Here are seven places design lovers can eat, shop, and take plenty of photos for Instagram in the Hamptons.
Roller Rabbit, East Hampton
Artist Robyn Blair Lazer and her daughter Olive outside the Main Street store
While Roller Rabbit has stores in other locations including Palm Beach, it has always felt very much like a local shop to those visiting Main Street in East Hampton. From their block-printed dresses to bedding, it’s almost impossible to stop by and not buy something.
Shelves of Endless Summer
The brand recently launched a cheerful and chic collaboration with viral artist By Robynblair, featuring a new print called Endless Summer. With several items to choose from, including Roller Rabbit’s cult-classic pajamas for both children and adults along with the artist’s famed candy dishes, fine art prints, and other accessories, it’s the whimsical treat the Hamptons didn’t know it needed.
Endless Summer
It’s also a great way to take a little bit of the Hamptons home. And for those who can’t visit, the line is available online from both the artist and Roller Rabbit.
Eric Emanuel, East Hampton
Eric Emanuel East Hampton
While most people don’t associate the Hamptons with streetwear or sportswear, it’s safe to say that designer Eric Emanuel’s newest outpost might change all of this singlehandedly. With a yellow and white cabana-striped canopy boldly shining on the Newton Lane shop, along with fun neon logos, this store is (dare we say it) whimsical yet still true to the Hamptons.
A colorful shop
With a comfy central banquette decorated with matching planters designed by artist Jake Clark, it’s just as inviting as it is exciting for fans of the brand. While shoppers might come for the cult-favorite shorts, they’ll definitely stay for the ambiance.
Capri Hotel, South Hampton
The Capri Hotel South Hampton
Make it a cabana stripe summer. The Capri might just have some of the most cheerfully-designed hotel rooms in the Hamptons. With yellow and white striped bed canopies and fashion-inspired art, they are truly unique for the locale.
Ketchy Beach Restaurant
The hotel is also home to the Ketchy Beach restaurant. With wood-beamed ceilings and rattan fixtures over upholstered banquettes with vintage-style fabric, it’s a perfect combination of old and new.
Hero Beach Club, Montauk
Art is everywhere at Hero Beach Club
Get your phones charged and ready. Hero Beach Club is one of Montauk’s newest hot spots. This hotel is a perfect combination of Montauk’s relaxed beach vibes with ocean views and perhaps some of the most unique art installations the East End has seen in a while. Located on the lawn between the original 1950s buildings, the space is home to a variety of art installations from artists including Terri Chiao, Adam Frezza, and @RiskRock.
Don’t call it an “Instagram Hotel.” Hero Beach Club is so much more than that.
The space also hosts weekend wellness events sponsored by Koia, which are open to guests as well as the whole community. This hotel might just be the hero Montauk didn’t know it needed.
SkinSpirit, South Hampton
SkinSpirit South Hampton
Those who appreciate the aesthetics of interiors often appreciate an aesthetic face. Upper East Siders (and those visiting from other states) may already be familiar with the tony med spa SkinSpirit, which opened a pop-up for the summer. Located in a newly renovated medical building steps from Main Street, it’s sleek and chic. With plush canvas sofas that remind us of Jenni Kayne, which is just down the street, and beautiful art, it’s a stylish setting to freshen up with a DiamondGlow facial or Botox.
Think more spa and less med
According to Vanessa Gordon, Founder of the Hamptons Interactive Brunch event series, everyone wants SkinSpirit to become a permanent fixture. “The need for a year-round, reputable med spa in the Hamptons is paramount. With so many, like myself, expressing that they do not have the time nor desire to commute back-and-forth to the city, the South Fork region of Long Island could certainly benefit. I’m friendly with many moms and wellness enthusiasts, and this is something that comes up in conversation very frequently.”
Calissa, Watermill
Calissa Watermill
Design in the Hamptons is inspired by many things, but the Mediterranean is not usually one of them. However, Calissa in Watermill is the exception to the rule. Go to this restaurant on any night, and you’ll find the stylish wood tables completely filled up (especially before the restaurant’s infamous concert series).
It’s not the Hamptons without hydrangeas
From the white wood dining chairs to the white canvas banquettes, cool canopies, and string lights—the vibes are as fresh as the branzino. On the other hand, the gorgeous hydrangea bushes throughout the property are signature Hamptons. Every dining experience feels like a party.
Wölffer Estate, Sagaponack
Wölffer Estate Vineyard
Say cheers to the Hamptons at the iconic Wölffer Estate. From the cool and casual wine stand to the stately tasting room, there’s no better place to appreciate both interior and exterior grandeur out East.
The tasting room
“Wölffer is so synonymous with the Hamptons and the Hamptons’ lifestyle. As even a longtime local, I actually always love when people mention wanting to go to the vineyard or wine stand. The people who work there are so friendly and knowledgeable, and around every corner is an Instagram moment,” says Gordon. “From catching a wellness class early in the morning on a weekend to meeting up with old friends at the vineyard for wine, cheese, and charcuterie, which they execute beautifully, Wölffer is a one-stop destination for capturing gorgeous pics for the feed.”
